AI Engineer (LLM & Edge AI)

About the role

TrustMotion, part of NXP, is looking for an AI Engineer to join its growing team in the Novi Sad office with a hybrid way of working. The role focuses on developing, fine-tuning, optimizing and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs) on embedded and edge platforms, moving AI from concept to execution on hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimize AI solutions based on LLMs and VLMs
• Fine-tune foundation models for specific use cases and domains
• Develop and maintain AI agents using modern agentic frameworks
• Design and develop MCP tools and integrate them into AI agent workflows
• Evaluate model performance, accuracy, latency and resource utilization
• Deploy and optimize AI models on embedded and edge computing platforms
• Create proof-of-concepts and support product development activities
• Stay up to date with emerging AI technologies and industry trends

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience
• Nice to have: knowledge of model optimization and edge AI deployment, Linux environment experience, multimodal AI systems experience, and embedded systems experience in AI model deployment and performance optimization

Required skills

• Strong programming skills
• Good understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, VLMs or other generative AI systems, and with model fine-tuning and evaluation
• Experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face or similar
• Software engineering best practices and version control systems
• Agentic AI frameworks and MCP tools and AI tool integration
