Senior AI Engineer (LLM & Edge AI)

About the role

TrustMotion, part of NXP, is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join its growing Novi Sad office with a hybrid way of working. The role focuses on developing, architecting, fine-tuning, optimizing and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs), with a strong emphasis on bringing AI from concept to execution on hardware platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimize AI solutions based on LLMs and VLMs
• Solve complex AI engineering problems independently and drive their implementation
• Contribute to the architecture and technical design of AI solutions
• Fine-tune models for specific use cases and domains
• Develop and maintain AI agents using modern agentic frameworks, and build MCP tools integrated into agent workflows
• Evaluate model performance, accuracy, latency and resource utilization
• Deploy and optimize AI models on embedded and edge computing platforms
• Create proof-of-concepts and support product development
• Guide less experienced team members and stay up to date with emerging AI technologies

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
• 4+ years of relevant professional experience
• Nice to have: knowledge of model optimization and edge AI deployment, Linux, multimodal AI systems, embedded systems experience, and mentoring others

Required skills

• Programming skills and good understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, VLMs or other generative AI systems, and model fine-tuning and evaluation
• AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face or similar
• Agentic AI frameworks and MCP tools
• Version control and collaborative software development practices
