AI-first QA Engineer

About the role

Smartcat is looking for an AI‑first QA Engineer to drive product quality through automated testing and AI‑enhanced processes. You will design, implement and maintain test automation, collaborate with engineers, and help embed quality early in the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated test suites using Playwright and Selenium.
• Define and lead automation strategy based on risk assessment and scalability.
• Apply advanced test analysis techniques to ensure comprehensive coverage across unit, integration and end‑to‑end layers.
• Continuously adopt new tools, AI‑based productivity aids and working methods.
• Mentor team members and promote QA best practices across cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in QA automation.
• Strong problem‑solving and task‑prioritisation abilities.
• Proficiency in test planning, documentation and test design.
• Effective communication within cross‑functional teams.
• Advanced written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Playwright
• Selenium
• TypeScript (or other OOP language, Python a plus)
• AI toolset for test design and reporting
• REST API testing tools (Postman, REST‑assured, Playwright API)
• Git version control and basic CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD a plus)
• Load/performance testing tools (Locust, K6 a plus)
