Senior Backend Engineer (Python, AI, EdTech)

About the role

Novakid is building an AI‑driven online English‑learning platform for children. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services that power personalized learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and evolution of micro‑service, event‑driven and serverless systems on AWS.
• Design, develop and maintain robust APIs and data pipelines for AI‑powered language features.
• Mentor and review code of other backend engineers, fostering best practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to integrate cutting‑edge AI models.
• Identify technical risks, propose solutions and balance rapid delivery with long‑term scalability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with strong Python (3.8+) expertise.
• Proven experience in system design, architecture and scaling distributed services.
• Fluent English and ability to work in a distributed, multi‑country team.
• Experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives.
