Senior Software Engineer - Display/Touch Infotainment Platform

About the role

The Serbia Infotainment Platform team at Rivian Volkswagen Technologies is expanding its multimedia group with a skilled Embedded Software Engineer. The team develops the next-generation in-vehicle experience for all future electric vehicles in the Rivian and Volkswagen Group portfolios, working on the architecture, integration, optimization and system-level debugging of display and input subsystems, from low-level drivers through OS frameworks (Linux, QNX, Android Automotive).

Key responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and maintain display drivers and compositor frameworks (DRM/KMS, SurfaceFlinger, Wayland, OpenWFD) for multi-display setups.
• Build drivers and middleware for touch panels and physical buttons, optimizing gesture recognition, multi-touch and noise filtering.
• Debug display and input issues such as screen freezes, visual artifacts, touch ghosting and dropped frames using profilers, gdb, JTAG and logic analyzers.
• Tune the glass-to-glass pipeline for frame rate, color accuracy and touch latency.
• Bring up new display panels and input interfaces with hardware and SoC partners via MIPI DSI, I2C, SPI and SerDes.
• Implement features such as dynamic backlight control, power sequencing, resolution switching, fault monitoring and multi-display sync.
• Work with hardware engineers, UI/UX designers and system teams, documenting software architecture and meeting automotive safety and EMC requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven experience in embedded software or platform engineering focused on display panels, touch screens and hardware input.
• Deep understanding of Linux, QNX or Android Automotive OS.
• Experience with hardware peripherals and interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI DSI).

Required skills

• C/C++ programming.
• Preferred: automotive infotainment platforms on major SoCs (Qualcomm Snapdragon, NXP), graphics libraries (OpenGL ES, Vulkan, HWC), CAN and Automotive Ethernet, display virtualization (VirtIO-GPU) and profiling tools (Systrace, Perfetto).
