Software Engineer - Fintech Checkout Platform

About the role

Paxora is a fintech company building modern checkout and payment software for ecommerce businesses, simplifying payment integrations and helping merchants offer local payment methods. It is building a modern SaaS platform focused on payment infrastructure, automation, reliability and user experience. Paxora is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join its team in Bujanovac, Serbia, in a full-time, on-site position focused on developing, maintaining and improving the web platform, backend services and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable web applications and backend services.
• Build and maintain secure APIs and third-party integrations.
• Develop and improve payment-related workflows, including Stripe integrations.
• Work on ecommerce platform integrations, webhooks and automation.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks and security issues.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
• Collaborate directly on product architecture, features and technical decisions.
• Support testing, deployment and ongoing platform improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in software engineering or full-stack/backend development.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Understanding of REST APIs, databases and backend architecture.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub and modern deployment workflows.
• Ability to write secure, scalable and maintainable code, with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field is welcome, but equivalent practical experience is also valued.

Required skills

• React, Next.js, Node.js (or similar technologies)
• Nice to have: Stripe APIs and Stripe Connect, Shopify APIs, webhooks, authentication and OAuth, Vercel, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD, payment security and fintech applications
