Staff Software Engineer - C++

About the role

ABBYY is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical design and delivery of complex capabilities on the Vantage Document AI platform. You will influence architecture, mentor engineers, and drive innovation in AI, LLM integration, and cloud‑native services.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical design and delivery of cross‑cutting platform capabilities, from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, reliability, performance, security, and compliance.
• Collaborate with product, ML, and cloud teams to translate business priorities into technical roadmaps.
• Lead platform health initiatives such as service decomposition, observability, CI/CD maturity, and developer productivity.
• Own high‑severity incident response, conduct post‑mortems, and implement reliability improvements.
• Mentor senior and principal engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor and continuous learning.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in C++.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and cloud‑native patterns at enterprise scale.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure storage, Key Vault, Azure SQL or equivalent.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Experience leading technical design reviews and influencing architecture across teams.
