Team Lead General Ledger, Accounting Shared Services

About the role

Magna is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to lead the General Ledger function within its shared services organization. The role combines transition management of GL activities from local entities with ongoing close and reporting responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the transition of GL processes from local entities to shared services, including process mapping, knowledge transfer, and post‑go‑live stabilization.
• Plan and manage ramp‑up of operations – hiring, onboarding, training, and scaling team capacity in line with transition waves.
• Lead day‑to‑day GL close activities such as journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and close calendar execution.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, SOX (or equivalent), and applicable accounting standards.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation, SOP documentation, KPI/SLA tracking, and stakeholder coordination across finance, tax, treasury, IT, and auditors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in GL accounting, Record‑to‑Report, corporate accounting or finance shared services, with demonstrated leadership of a 10‑15 person team.
• Experience in multinational shared‑services transitions or multi‑entity environments is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong ERP experience – preferably SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC or Oracle.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency with reporting/BI tools such as Power BI.
• Exposure to OneStream or similar consolidation and reporting platforms.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards, internal controls and audit documentation.
