Senior Medical Director – Nephrology (EMEA)

About the role

The Senior Medical Director – Nephrology will provide medical leadership for clinical trials across the EMEA region, ensuring scientific rigor and patient safety. This role works within a client‑dedicated environment at Thermo Fisher Scientific, supporting the development of life‑changing therapies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead study teams in designing and implementing clinical trial protocols, incorporating the latest scientific evidence.
• Oversee site selection, review and approval of study documents such as protocols, amendments, CSRs, ICFs, and CRFs.
• Conduct real‑time medical monitoring to validate primary endpoints and ensure subject safety.
• Serve as the primary medical liaison between the sponsor and internal departments throughout all study phases.
• Educate investigators and site staff on protocol‑specific procedures and provide ongoing medical support.
• Respond to queries from investigators, IRBs, and health authorities, and prepare materials for safety committees.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to address procedural and budgetary issues.

Required profile

• Medical degree with extensive experience in nephrology and clinical trial management.
• Proven senior medical leadership in a pharmaceutical or CRO setting.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines, IRB processes, and health authority interactions.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and investigator training.
