Senior PHP Engineer

About the role

JAGGAER is seeking a Senior PHP Engineer to design, implement, and enhance backend functionality of its hosted B2B SaaS platform. The role focuses on a large, business‑critical PHP monolith and involves modernising the codebase while ensuring security, performance and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evolve backend components for JAGGAER’s SaaS platform following secure‑by‑design principles.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including frontend engineers, QA, and product owners.
• Own and continuously refactor large PHP monolith modules.
• Address complex challenges related to performance, scalability, data integrity and maintainability.
• Write clean, maintainable PHP code and participate in code reviews.
• Debug production issues and improve platform stability.
• Leverage AI‑assisted tools to accelerate development, testing, and documentation while critically evaluating AI‑generated code for security and quality.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with strong PHP expertise.
• Proven experience maintaining large, long‑lived PHP applications, preferably monolithic architectures.
• Deep knowledge of Symfony or comparable PHP frameworks with ORM support.
• Strong understanding of MySQL and relational database design.
• Solid grasp of object‑oriented programming, SOLID principles, design patterns, algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Composer and dependency management.
• Ability to structure codebases to improve AI code‑generation reliability and evaluate AI‑generated solutions.
