Data Quality Specialist

About the role

The ICRC's Protection & CTA Division uses data to turn information into usable insights for its programmes worldwide. The Data Quality Specialist is a technical and quality specialist for the Protection Digital Ecosystem, creating reports and structured, quality data sets and contributing to data cleaning for data migrations. The role sits in Level 3 support for Data Managers and Regional Data Managers in the field, and for National Red Cross and Red Crescent Society teams in the Family Links Network. It is a resident position in Belgrade on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Improve, develop and apply data quality monitoring processes and tools (reports, dashboards) and help automate data quality controls
• Apply best practices, standards and templates for data and analytics, and continuously improve reporting and analytics
• Help prepare, adapt and run data cleaning jobs to fix global or delegation-specific inconsistencies
• Support colleagues in National Societies and the PROT Data unit in building SQL queries and designing reports
• Run validation controls for yearly and mid-term statistics and update data quality documentation
• Create structured, high-quality data sets and regularly update and optimise dashboards and reports in the Protection digital tools
• Support new platform solutions and enhancements, test new technologies, report bugs and share lessons learned

Required profile

• Advanced university degree, preferably in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or a similar technical field
• At least 2 to 4 years of proven experience in a relevant field
• Experience in data analysis, statistical methods and data visualization, with a strong preference for Power BI
• Ability to adapt to varying workloads and tight deadlines in a constrained technological environment
• Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills, able to work with multicultural stakeholders
• Fluent English; knowledge of French and Spanish is an asset
• Open to Serbian citizens or holders of a personal work permit in Serbia

Required skills

• SQL (MS SQL/T-SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Data visualization, with a strong preference for Power BI
• Excellent computer literacy (MS Word, Excel)
